"The Dream", 2003, original oil, acrylic and pencil on Rives paper, 4 3/4" x 11 15/16", original condition.

In "The Dream", a small and unique work, Mr. Gordon has created a woodcut without the use of an initial woodblock. This was accomplished by layering printer's inks and oil directly onto the paper, and then using cutting tools directly onto the surface, resulting in a work, which conveys the dynamics of his past woodcuts, but without wood and impressions from the wood. The paper is intact because of the paint layering on its surface, and the touch of the tools is worked and a subtle but marked impression of the figure and her surroundings.

Jeff Gordon (1952 - ) was born in New York City. He works in various mediums, from works on paper and canvas to lithographs, etchings, woodcuts and ceramics. Noted art critic Robert C. Morgan has stated:  "I believe that the content of intimacy is the source for much of the significant art in the future. Jeff Gordon has character, intelligence, sensitivity, passion and compassion. His figurative works are subtle, direct - and in their own way, refined".

Jeff Gordon was among the artists included in The Atomic Salon" exhibit cosponsored by Ronald Feldman Fine Arts and The Village Voice.  Gordon also produced the "Artsounds Collection" which also met with critical acclaim. He has exhibited extensively; including his latest solo art show of etchings at the Caraccio Studio, in the Chelsea district.  Jeff Gordon's work is in both public and private collections including the Museum of Modern Art, NYC, the Tate Gallery London, UK, and in galleries in New York and Paris.

Recently, Jeff Gordon and his wife, the abstract painter Path Soong, have relocated to Norwich, New York, "a small and beautiful town where space and openness and nature abound". After spending most of their lives in New York City, both find this new chapter in their lives inspiring. Jeff Gordon's next show, in October 2003, is titled "In Blue" - focused with colors of the blue range. The exhibition will feature works on paper, canvas and ceramic.

Jeff Gordon's "The Dream" is in a 16 3/8" x 23 1/2" Roma frame finished in light and dark olive greens with an antique gold lip and edge and antiqued patina. The outer sagebrush flaxen and brushed gold linen, middle gold beveled accent and inner olive denim mats are acid and lignin free and protected with Acrylite-AR OP3 (UV) .... $2,000.00
