Clay Anderson (1943- ) is an American artist who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and worked under Ben Kamihira, Walter Stuempfig and Hobson Pittman. An American Surrealist, he developed his technique and style in Europe after receiving two European traveling scholarships.  His images have been included in many publications, including Omni Magazine. His works are in many public and private collections including Rutgers University, Temple University and the private collections of John W. Merriam, Terrence McKenna and David Lynch.

Anderson's work delves into the coexistence of beauty and mystery, suggesting a state of reverie.  His distinctive style unsettles and intrigues the observer.  The duality of theme in "The Profile" centers upon the representational imagery of the girl in profile and the geometric "Sufi" tradition star; a system for analyzing personality to derive personality profiles or method of categorizing in the enneagram. A fundamental element of the enneagram is its description of nine distinct personality types, each a reflection of different patterns of thought, feeling and action rooted in specific viewpoints or belief structures.  Identifying one's enneagram 'profile' reveals the unconscious motivations that determine one's behavior. In "The Profile", the muted colors and unique juxtaposition of images invoke a dreamlike contemplative state in the viewer.

Anderson's The Profile" is in a 25 5/8 x 28 7/8" faux stone-finished frame with a gold lip, which has been washed with gold and red over a brown base.  The outer mink silk, beveled burnished gold accent, sepia toned orange and khaki rag inner mats are acid and lignin free and are protected with Acrylite-AR OP3 (UV) by CYRO ............. $3900.00
